President Obama’s Press Conference: "Let's Find Those Areas Where We Can Agree"

Following the November elections President Obama spoke about what he hopes for based on the results of the election. I think that Obama made a good point in saying that no matter which party is the majority in Congress it is important to be a united front. I agree that not everyone will always agree on issues and that this is one of the reasons we have political parties. However, I do think that it is important for our nation to work together in order to get things done. President Obama made it clear that in order to keep the nations best interest at hand it will be important for the Democrats and the Republicans to be able to work together to find common ground and serve the people of the United States.

  1. Isn't this what we should always be working toward? I think that political parties should exist to allow citizens to identify with a group and to constructively collaborate with those who share other opinions, rather than tear down those who believe someting different.

  2. It's funny to me because for Obama to have to state something like that makes me laugh. I mean our entire country as whole should be working towards the same goal. If the differences between the two political parties are really going to get in the way of the steps we are trying to take as a country, then there is definitely something not right. In all circumstances i think it is important that regardless of ones political party, citizens should look at how a decision or a movement will benefit our country as a whole, not whether or not a certain party will be given more credit for the change.

  3. I agree with Andrea, our political parties should put aside the interest of the party and focus on the interest of the people

  4. I agree with all these comments. Our differences in our political parties should not be our focus. Our focus needs to be on how we can make our economy better for our citizens. We need to focus on both the left and right sides strengths and build off of each other.
